An impressive two-bedroom villa on a World Heritage Site. A 17th-century framework with the potential to become a four-bedroom home.
There’s a spectacular sense of history to this two-bedroom villa perched on one of the highest points in Dalt Vila. With origins dating back to the 17th century, it’s a landmark in Spanish-Italian architecture.
Its impressive, south-facing silhouette, carved from natural stone, concrete accents and exposed textures, is rooted in the vernacular of its Old Town location – a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its interiors are ready for you to make your own; a labyrinth of spaces that can be opened up and reconfigured to create a family home.
Step off the cobbled street and into a grand hallway where arches chiselled by the same Genovese craftsmen who left their mark on Ibiza’s Town Hall have been sympathetically preserved. Staircases forged into concrete and ancient wood that runs along the ceiling. Two reception rooms, where smooth concrete and timber accents amplify the flow of space, are bright and airy thanks to their seamless connection with the outdoors. Note the traditional forms that are scattered throughout the cleverly interconnected rooms; an old wine press, an Indian-inspired armoire and a Castilian door.
In the east wing, polished tile floors, whitewashed walls and a frameless fireplace make the lounge a year-round space. Slide back glass doors to step onto a shaded terrace with a swimming pool and uninterrupted vistas of Ibiza Town and Talamanca. Another sliding door offers access to the further reception room, where hushed aesthetics are amped up with eye-catching artwork and two balconies that channel natural light.
A modern kitchen with wraparound storage, Miele appliances and golden tiles can be found through another hall that links it with the formal dining room. Elsewhere on this level, a marble-clad bedroom with built-in wardrobes, low-slung furnishings and a sleek en suite. A deep-seated bath takes advantage of the picture window that gazes across the harbour.
Upstairs, a self-contained master suite, where oriental design meets Ibicencan textures. It’s subtly zoned with a dedicated dressing area, seating space and a bed that can be closed off thanks to sliding shutter-style internal doors. It’s served by its own kitchen and bathroom. There’s access to a split-level private terrace that drinks in views of the imposing cathedral and lively harbour. Elsewhere, a garage with parking space for two cars and utility.
